Our Mission

This page is dedicated to the missions we support and have supported in the past.

Angels’ Attic supported the opening of White’s Chapel UMC’s Mission Health Center free dental clinic in the El Buen Samaritano neighborhood of southeast Fort Worth with a monetary grant and merchandise donations.

Clothing from our September 2017 Summer to Fall Switch Over was distributed to four local charities that support homeless and at-risk men, women, teens, and children.  Earlier in the month, we sent 20 boxes of sorted men’s, women’s, and children’s clothing and baby items to Northgate United Methodist Church in Irving which  acted as the sorting center for the City of Irving temporary shelter for Hurricane Harvey evacuees at the Lively Youth Center.

Gail Brown recently stopped by to show us some of the beautiful quilts she has made from fabrics donated by Angels’ Attic. Gail’s quilts are sent by Lutheran World Relief to countries all over the world. The quilts are used to shield against cold and rain, for warm bedding, as simple tents, or as a wrap to hold a baby on a mother’s back. They are a message of hope for people in their time of greatest need. Thank you, Gail, for letting us be a part of this wonderful mission.

GRACECongratulations to the WCUMC FaithWorks Home with a Heart ministry team on being collectively selected as Volunteers of the Year by GRACE: Grapevine Relief and Community Exchange. The team has rebuilt and refurbished three apartments for transitional housing for homeless women and children. Angels’ Attic is blessed to help by providing furniture and home decor for the new apartments.

Clothing from our Winter/Spring Switchover will benefit the Mitrata-Napal Foundation for Children which helps severly impoverished children in Nepal with education, healthcare, housing, and scholarships. Volunteers from White’s Chapel will visit Nepal and deliver the clothing to this ministry. For more information see: http://mitrata.org

Thanks to our Friend of The Attic, Brooke Andrews, we can see the actual delivery of your clothing donations from the spring switchover to the children who need them on the other side of the world.  Brooke recently visited the Bhuvaneshwori Satyal Foundation in Kathmandu, Nepal, to deliver donations from The Attic and learn more about this charity.  Impoverished families in Nepal cannot afford to pay for school or day care.  This center provides education, health care, housing, scholarships, and empowerment to those children.  What a blessing it is to see these precious children and this important work in the world.

Clothing from our Winter/Spring Switchover will benefit the Highlander Care Closet, a joint effort of the Fort Worth Police Department and Fort Worth Independent School District to provide necessities to homeless and at-risk students. Care Closets are at Arlington Heights, Eastern Hills and North Side High Schools.

Clothing from our 2017 Winter/Spring Switchover will benefit Cornerstone Assistance Network which helps families in poverty in Tarrant County, TX.  For information see:   http://www.canetwork.org

slide1Angels’ Attic invites you to participate in our WCUMC Soldier Ministry by donating items to be sent to our men and women in the military. This is ongoing ministry, not just during the holidays. Boxes are sent regularly to soldiers who represent a unit, platoon, or battallion, and items are shared with others in the unit, especially those who do not get mail. Please donate items from the list. You may leave your donations at Angels Too. Also, take a plastic soldier from the baskets at Angels’ Attic and Angels Too to remind you to pray for our military.

With a vision to make a real difference in the lives of the world’s impoverished and forgotten people, Angels’ Attic Upscale Resale has donated to numerous charities both at home and abroad. Your donations and purchases provide the funds that make this all possible.

Listed below are a few of the projects that we have supported.

Angels’ Attic has been able to assist the DRC (Day Resource Center) in Fort Worth with clothing for their Fall Blessing Bag Project and filling Homecoming Kits with kitchen items needed by the homeless who have been helped to find housing. The DRC looks for comunity solutions to end homelessness. For more information, see their website: http://www.drc-solutions.org/

Nothing is wasted at The Attic. White’s Chapel UMC’s Wonderful Wednesdays with Women has a sewing group, including some of our Attic volunteers, who spend their afternoon making pillow case dresses and shorts to send on Mission trips all over the world. Since 2011, they have made over 750 dresses and 350 pairs of shorts and are currently working on items to be sent on White’s Chapel mission trip to Ghana in November. Angel’s Attic helps provide this group with donated cotton fabric and denim for this project. If you are interested in helping with this project, contact tchristensen@whiteschapelumc.com. We also welcome any donations of fabric and denim. The smaller pieces of fabric are donated to another women’s ministry of the Lutheran Church, where they are used to make quilts for people in need.

We remember our furry friends at The Attic. Old towels, dog toys, and dog beds are donated to the Grapevine Animal Shelter. For information about their Wish List or Adoption Events check the city website: http://www.grapevinetexas.gov/index.aspx?NID=450
or the shelter’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/GrapevineAnimalServices/

Thanks to your generous donations of golf equipment, Angels’ Attic has been able to help The First Tee of Fort Worth. The First Tee’s mission is “To impact the lives of all young people by providing participation in The First Tee’s Life Skills Curriculum and its Nine Core Values through the game of golf, thereby instilling life enhancing values that encourage leadership, build character, foster community service and promote wellness.”

Union Gospel Mission of Tarrant County is a united Christian organization and ministry dedicated to providing love, hope, respect and a new beginning for the homeless in Tarrant County. Because of your generosity, Angels’ Attic is able to support UMG-TC through direct merchandise donations.
